Shayne was one of four Canadiens represented in the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan. In the 1999-2000 season, Shayne's first goal of the season was the opening score in a 4-2 win over Atlanta on Nov. 13, 1999.
A rugged winger, Real Lemieux chalked up 211 penalty minutes with Memphis of the Central League in 1966-67. Nicknamed "Frenchy," he once broke his wrist in a fight, but bragged: "I broke the other guy's nose, too." Originally, a product of the Detroit Red Wing organization.
Billy's career unique in that he coached minor hockey before he ever came up to NHL. Had eight seasons with Montreal, then went back to coaching. Had brief fling as ice boss at Toronto, now in third year at the Black Hawk helm.
