Kent made his NHL debut with Columbus on April 2, 2003, against Minnesota. Before his call-up. McDonell scored 31 points in 72 games with Syracuse (AHL).
It only took Kaberle two games to record his first NHL point. The assist came in a 3-2 win of the Edmonton Coliseum. In fact, through his first 19 games with the parent club, Koberle racked up 10 points, quite a respectable number for a first-year defenseman. His first goal came in the second period of a 5-3 win at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena. He then responded by sending home the game-winner in the third period the very next night at Pittsburgh. Although he's just 20-years-old, Kaberle handles the puck with great maturity for someone his age.
