One of most sought-after amateurs, Vasko was assigned to Hawks after dispute with Canadiens and Leafs. Among biggest athletes in NHL at 6-3 and 210, he's the "Moose" to all fans. Vasko made NHL second all-star team last two years, and is rated Hawks' best defensive defenseman.
Phil suffered a drop in point production in 58-59, yet still earned rating from coach Blake as his soundest all round centreman. Phil will never earn plaudits as a goal scorer and will play many games during a season without stirring a ripple of applause, but behind his almost colourless play is a brilliant defensive ability.
Gaborik, still just 21, already has scored 78 NHL goals and played in the All-Star game. His tremendous speed and quick hands make him one of the league's most explosive stars. "Marian can fire the puck in full stride and ring it off the far post up high," says Wild assistant coach Mike Ramsey. "Not many people possess that ability." Gaborik's 55 points in '02-03 propelled Minnesota to the playoffs.
