Pedro was drafted by California in 1968 from Tulsa. He spent the entire 1969 season with the Angels except for being sidelined with an appendectomy. Strictly a relief pitcher, he was the winner in his first major league appearance vs. Seattle April 9, and later defeated Baltimore. Pedro was acquired by Cincinnati during the winter to beef up their bullpen.
