He had 23 doubles, 1 triple and 19 homers among his 161 hits, and he drove in 96 runs. His best season was in 1953 with Brooklyn when he won the National League batting title with a .344 average. He's been with Brooklyn since 1946, after starting in organized baseball in 1940.
