Took part in 42 games for the Indians in 1951. Won 17, lost 14. In addition to being one of the League's top pitchers, Bob swings an effective bat, and is frequently used as a pinch-hitter. He started out in baseball as a combination infielder and outfielder. Finally settled on pitching.

One of the smartest pitchers in the big leagues. Has exceptional control and knows the weaknesses of the batters. A six-footer, but weighs less than 170 pounds. Has plenty of stuff, though, when he needs it. Has been a big league regular almost continuously since he joined the Athletics in 1912. Traded to Boston in 1915 and to New York in 1923. Pitched in five world's series. Last year won nine games and lost five. Lives at Kennett Square, Pa. Married. Loves to hunt. Although a left-handed pitcher, bats from either side of the plate.

Adley's 66 doubles entering 2024 are the most ever for a catcher through his first two seasons, while his hit total ranks fifth. An MLB All-Star Game selection and AL Silver Slugger Award winner in 2023, he forged the highest OBP on the Orioles.
