"The Little Professor" is the youngest of three brothers all of whom made their mark in the majors. Regarded as the greatest center-fielder in the game, he set the American League record for Putouts with 503 in 1948. He led the League in Runs in 1950 and 1951. Dom broke in with the Red Sox in 1940 and has been their regular center-fielder since, except for 3 years, when he served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy.
Miguel begins his third decade of play and fourth decade of life in 2022, having made an indelible mark on the sport as a two-time AL MVP, four-time batting champion, 3,000-knock/500-homer hitting machine, and its only Triple Crown winner since 1967.
The capable pitcher came to the Dodgers in a big four team deal shortly after the first of the year. If he can control his temper he could be an important factor in the Dodgers' 1953 chances. He was in 37 games for the Phillies in 1952, winning 13 and losing 14. His earned run average was a low 3.14. Began in baseball in 1942. With the Cubs before the Phillies.
