Dick is probably the only pitcher in the majors who has spent 2 full years with a club without losing or winning. The Indians can't farm him out without losing him, so they keep trying to work him into spots. Bob Feller spotted Dick while they were both playing for the Great Lakes Navy team. He broke in with Wilkes Barre in '47 and for Oklahoma City in '49, led the Texas League in Strikeouts with 145 in 28 games. He pitched 2 no-hitters in the minors.
Corbin was the National League leader (300+ IP) with both his 2.62 ERA and 565 strikeouts between 2020 and 2022 and an NL Cy Young Award winner in the middle of the span. Last season he was the first Milwaukee Brewers pitcher ever to top his League in whiffs.
Chico was the best fielding shortstop in the league, according to the official averages, but this was a fact well known by White Sox fans who watched his superior work in the field throughout the season. He fielded .976, making only 18 errors in 758 total chances. He hit .279 and had 30 doubles, 4 triples and 2 homers among his 154 hits. Batted in 47 runs. Began in 1949, Fort Worth, then came to White Sox next season, remaining there ever since.
