In 34 games for the Bucs in 1951. Won 6, lost 10. In pitching 150 innings Bob walked 68 and struck out 41. His earned run average was 4.26. He broke into baseball with Waco in 1950. Then went up the ladder to Indianapolis. Hurled a no-hitter in final appearance at Waco.
Robert J. Shawkey, pitcher of the Philadelphia Americans, was born at Brookfield, Pa., December 4, 1890, and played his first professional ball with the Harrisburg Club, of the Tristate League, in 1911. The fol- lowing spring he was taken South by the Athletics, but was sent to Baltimore for further seasoning. He remained with Baltimore until the middle of the 1913 season, when he was recalled by Manager Mack. He has been one of the stars of the Athletics' pitching staff since. He is a right-hander.
