Theodore Bernard Kluszewski nicknamed "Ted" is a hunter and fishing enthusiast when he is not playing baseball. He was a star football player at U. of Indiana for two years and thought of taking up professional football, but chose baseball instead. Began his baseball career at Columbia in 1946 and has played for Cincinnati since 1948. Led N.L. first basemen in fielding 1951-52 and 53.
Was star of 1951 World Series, making 11 hits and compiling a .458 batting average. A broken ankle suffered in an exhibition game against Cleveland kept him idle most of 1952 season. Broke into majors with Giants in 1949 and has a lifetime batting average of .304. Was eighth in league with .329 in 1953.
