Pete, a former A.L. Rookie of the Year in 1963, only appeared in 84 ballgames in 1966. The White Sox's third baseman made a fine come- back in 1967 as he led Chicago in home runs and runs batted in.

Joseph B. Tinker, manager of the Chicago Federal League team, was born in Muskotah, Kan., July 27, 1880. He started his baseball career in 1898, playing with Kansas City in that year; Parsons, Kan., in 1899; Denver in 1900; and Portland in 1901. In 1902 he signed with the Chicago Cubs, and played with them until 1912. He was manager of the Cincinnati Club in 1913, and joined the Federal League in 1914.
