Acquired cheaply from the Lakers in the off-season, Anthony made the best of his expanded minutes by becoming the Grizzlies' thirdleading scorer. He made franchise history on February 4th against New Jersey when he chalked up the club's first 40-point game. Peeler hit 13/28 FG's (inc. 6/12 3-PT FG's) and 8/8 FT's while peppering the box score with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
A rough, tough, rugged rebounder who last season developed into a stickout scorer. His forte is outleaping and outscrambling rivals for rebounds off his own backboard and either dropping them in or tapping them in for scores. He is fast despite his size. His exceptional strength makes him a tough man at the pivot post from which he can shoot with either hand. He was the team's third highest scorer last season.
Bernie contributed much to the Squires offense in his first campaign with the club, 1971-72, with a 10.6 Average and hit an impressive 20.5 clip during the last dozen games of the season when the club was making its drive for the #2 playoff berth. He was particularly impressive in an early season game against Memphis.
