Another product of the New York Yankees, "Don" Heffner has proved a useful member of the St. Louis Browns. He came to the Browns in 1938 from Newark, the Yankee farm, and last year played both second and short, while batting .267, the highest he has ever attained in the major leagues over 100 or more games. He drove in 35 runs with 100 hits and scored 45 himself. In his professional career, which dates back to 1929. he has played every infield position except first.



"Goldie" was traded to the Browns by the White Sox during the winter. Although he was with the White Sox all of the 1950, season and at the beginning of the 1949 and 1951 seasons, he hasn't made the grade yet. The former U.C.L.A. student spent most of the '51 season with Seattle where he hit .240 and 12 homers in 108 games. He started in the minors in 1944 and came up to the majors after hitting .289 at Memphis in '48.



Vic spent part of the 1943 season, his second in organized ball, as a combination pitcher-outfielder for the Buffalo Bisons, and then entered military service. He was discharged for the 1946 season which he spent with Buffalo hitting .201 in 139 games as an outfielder. He joined the Tigers in 1947 and hit .288 in 102 games. Last year he hit .248.
