Bob "Cherokee" Johnson reached his greatest heights as a major league outfielder last year. One of the fastest, most consistent players in the league. Johnson finished brilliant season third in batting with a mark of .338, and third in runs-batted-in with 114. He collected 23 home runs, stole 15 bases and scored 115 times himself on his 184 hits. Johnson, who is proud of his Indian descent, has not failed to drive in 100 runs or more in the past five seasons, and now in his eighth season with the A's, boasts a lifetime batting mark of over .300.

Red Evans comes up for his second major-league trial from New Orleans of the Southern Association via Jersey City draft. He was awarded the "most valuable player" award of the Southern Association on the strength of his pitching record, pitching 26 complete games, winning 21, with an earned run average of 2.83. Last year was the second year that Red Evans was awarded the "most valuable player" award, having won it in 1935 while with Oklahoma City, with whom he won 24 games during the regular season and winning 3 games in the play-off for the championship. Evans has a good fast ball, a good change of pace and can be a dangerous hitter when at bat.
