Formerly a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, Cloyd is back for another try at major league ball, this time with the American League. He was with the Cardinals' American Association farm team at Columbus in 1954, and he had a record of 2 wins and 3 losses. He was with Houston in 1953, and he was in 28 games, winning 4 and losing 2. He worked 65 innings, walked 28 and struck out 31. His earned run average was a good 2.73.
Bob is one of the biggest men in baseball, and has the strength and savvy to overpower a batter. He's a mighty good pitcher, and if he had had a stronger hitting team behind him, he could have won more games. He lost 20 in 1950, while winning 13, but the record could have been reversed. Began in 1947 with Des Moines, after 8 games with them he finished the season with Nashville. Came to Cubs in 1948.
Ray made the All Star team of every minor league he played in. He can play every infield position. Ray had over 100 R.B.I.'s in each of his 1st two Major seasons.
