Leslie Nunamaker, catcher of the New York American League Club, was born in Aurora, Neb., in 1889. His career began with the Lincoln, Neb., team of the Western League in 1909. He remained with that club until late in the season, when he was disposed of to Dubuque, Iowa, of the Three Eye League. He was drafted at the end of the year by the Chicago Nationals. He was sent back to Bloomington without a trial, and after playing there the following season was drafted by Boston Americans. He was sold by Boston to New York Americans in 1914.

One of Mike's finest games of 1972 was vs. his former Bosox teammates, August 28th. He hit 3-run Homer in 4th inning & 2-run Double in 6th as Chisox won 6-4.

Iriarte was tough to touch in 2024, allowing an earned run in just one of his half-dozen appearances out of the Chicago bullpen. When all was said and done, the righty became the third pitcher in club history to get into at least six games his first season and post an ERA of 1.50 or lower, joining Cisco Carlos (1967) and Larry Thomas (1995).
