A consensus top-25 prospect entering 2023, Jackson was one of only four Padres farmhands to pair at least 15 homers with 15+ steals that season. He's a tall, strapping shortstop with an all-fields approach and good feel for working counts. For Fort Wayne on June 30, Merrill flexed his considerable power by smashing two longballs against Lake County.

Kress won another Major League trial because of his outstanding record at Rochester in '53. He ranked Second in the International League in Homers and RBI's. In '49, he was brought up by the Reds after hitting .312 at Tulsa the year before. Sold to the White Sox early in '49, Charlie hit .278 in 97 games and also had a .994 Fielding Average.

Al's pitching career dates back to 1931 when he broke in with Lincoln. He was up with the A's in '34 and '35 and started a long Detroit career in '38 which didn't end until '48 when he was sold to the Indians. Al won 15 in '41 and 13 in '45. After pitching on the Pacific Coast in '51 and the early part of '52, Al was signed by the Red Sox. In 1949 he set the Tiger record for number of games finished in one season (35).
