Coffee Talk Name that player!
Big Gil is one of the nicest fellows in baseball, and one of the most capable and dangerous of players. He's a wonderful fielder around first, although he began his career in baseball as a catcher. His great power as a hitter is attested to by the fact that he hit four home runs in one game in 1950. That tied a major league mark. He hit 32 homers for the Dodgers in 1953, batted in 122 runs and hit .302. His hands are about the biggest in the majors.
With three years of major league experience, Joe took great strides towards stardom last season. He led the Senators' pitching staff in complete games (12), innings pitched (223) and strikeouts (139). The righthander has a live, moving fastball.
