Came to A's in a big 3-club deal, April 30, 1951. Hit .242 in 156 games for the White Sox in 1950. Batted 80 runs over plate. Had a much better average in 1949 (.286), but drove in fewer runs (44). Began in 1940 in East Texas League. First came up to the White Sox (7 games) in 1941. Entered the service in 1942. With Chicago and Milwaukee, 1946. Had first full season in majors with Sox in 1947.
Like teammate Magglio Ordonez, Carlos puts up consistent power numbers year after year. Lee drove in 84 runs as a rookie in 1999 and has plated at least 80-plus every season since. In 2003, he reached at least 24 homers for the fourth straight year. In one 10-game stretch in '03, he belted eight.
Charlie received a late season trial with the A's in '52 and turned in victories over the Browns and Red Sox. He's been in the pro ranks since '42 when he signed while attending Georgia Tech. After coming out of the Service in '46, Charlie played for 6 clubs before turning in the best season of his career, a 16-9 record at Sioux City, in '51. Charlie had a 12-10 record at Ottawa in '52.
