Don was brought up by the St. Louis Cardinals after the 1965 sea- son was underway. The strong-armed righthander arrived in time to bolster a sagging Cardinal bullpen. In his first year in the major leagues, Don showed the St. Louis brass that he has the poise and know-how of a seasoned hurler. The Cards are counting heavily on this young man in '66.



George pitched much better than his record indicates, given one of the lowest run support averages in Baseball. He paints corners with 97 mph fastballs.



It took "Fritz" Ostermueller eight years to make the major leagues and his tenacity is bearing fruit. Once again, Ostermueller, in his seventh season with the Boston Red Sox. proved himself a dependable hurler. He won 11 and lost 7 for the Red Sox last year, pitching eight complete games and two four-hitters. Fritz is one of the better-hitting pitchers in the American League. He broke into baseball in his home town of Quincy, Ill., in 1926, attended St. John's College there. and still makes it his residence.
