Came up to the Athletics, then back to minors. Acquired, 1939, by the Chicago Cubs. Tied a major-league record in 1944 by hitting 4 home runs in 4 successive times at bat. Led NL in home runs, 1943 and 1944. Traded to Phils for 1949.



Kumar showed off his vicious fastball/slider combo in MLB for the first time on September 12, 2024, debuting with seven strikeouts in four innings. He'd averaged 13.5 SOS/9 IP in two years on the farms.
