When Young debuted in 2000, Texas was coming off three playoff berths in the previous four seasons, and optimism abounded in Arlington. The Milwaukee Braves acquired Danny from the Pittsburgh Pirates early in 1954. Although he's a third baseman by trade, he can play other positions. One thing is sure - wherever he plays, the young Irishman will do a good job, both at bat and in the field. 1953 was his first season back in the majors after military service. He was in 149 games for Pittsburgh and hit .294. He had 26 doubles, 8 triples, 7 homers and batted in 55 runs.
