Grady attended U. of Texas from 1939 to 1943. His first year in organized baseball was also his first year in majors. He started in 1946 with Reds and played both third base and outfield. He hit .271 in 116 games and batted in 69 runs. In 1947 he played third only and had a .281 average for 146 games, batting in 77 tallies. Last season his average fell off to .240 and he drove in 46 runs.

"In 1924 Frank Hogan was playing baseball with the Somerville, Mass., high school team. In 1925 he had been signed by Boston as an outfielder, and released to Albany, Worcester and Lynn for more experience. In 1926 the Braves took him back to Boston as catcher but traded him in 1928 to the New York Giants. After five years he returned to Boston and in 1933 hung up the record of best fielding catcher in the National League, averaging .997 for 95 games. He was born in Somerville, Mass., March 21, 1906. He stands an even 6 feet high and tips the scales at 220. He bats right-handed and throws right-handed."

Iriarte was tough to touch in 2024, allowing an earned run in just one of his half-dozen appearances out of the Chicago bullpen. When all was said and done, the righty became the third pitcher in club history to get into at least six games his first season and post an ERA of 1.50 or lower, joining Cisco Carlos (1967) and Larry Thomas (1995).
