THE MOST EXCITING GAME IN WHICH I'VE PLAYED by Bob Kuzava. Probably this was in 1953 against the White Sox, while I was a Yankee. We had a double header on a Saturday, and the Sox were in second place. We won both games. Whitey Ford pitched a 1-0 shutout in the first game. In the second game, pitching against Virgil Trucks, I had a no-hitter with one out in the top of the ninth. Then Bob Boyd, the Sox first baseman, hit a double, and I became conscious of the fact that up to then I'd had a no hitter. It ended up as a one hitter and we won 3-0.
"Jim" Bloodworth is a promising young rookie with the Washington Senators. Property of the "Nats" since 1935, Bloodworth has not yet spent a full season in the major leagues. He was brought up for the first time in 1937, optioned out again, and recalled from Springfield last year. In 83 games with the Nats last year, he hit .289 and drove in 40 runs, not at all bad for a youngster getting his first real crack at the tough American League pitchers. He played both second and the out- field last year, and this year has been cavorting at second.
