Bob was called the Cinderella player of the Southern Association in 1950. He was claimed by Nashville on waivers from Memphis and proceeded to turn in a spectacular record. He was named the League's Most Valuable Player. He won 25 and lost 6 for the best percentage in the circuit. The third pitcher to have as many as 25 wins since 1928. He also struck out 202 batters, tops for any Nashville pitcher. He won 18 straight. Served in the Marine Corps.
