Back in 1932, when Connie Mack broke up his great outfield by trading Al Simmons and Mule Haas to the White Sox, he was asked what he was going to do for outfielders. Mack answered: "Well, I've got some young fellows, one of whom is Roger Cramer, who can play any of the outfield positions and I look for him to become a great star." Mack didn't go wrong on "Doc" Cramer, although he traded him to the Boston Red Sox in 1936. Now in his twelfth major league season. Cramer is still an outfield star. Last year. in 137 games, he batted .311. collected 183 hits, scored 110 runs and drove in 56. And few topped the fleet veteran in fielding.
