In three out of his four years in the major leagues, Minnie has batted over .300. In 1954 his .320 average was the second best in the League. He appeared in 153 games and had 182 hits. He had the most triples in the league, 18. He also had the most total bases, 304. He had 29 doubles, 18 triples and 19 homers among his hits. Minnie batted in 116 runs and scored 119. Began in baseball with Dayton. He first came to the majors with Cleveland, and in April, 1951 was traded to the White Sox.
"Cuddles" exchanged his baseball flannels for a Military uniform in 1951 and isn't expected to be back in Baseball this year. After posting a 12-9 record at Kansas City in '45, his 2nd year in organized ball, he joined the Yankees and had a 3-4 mark in 1946. Sent to Kansas City in 1947, he was recalled. at the end of the '48 season from Newark. With the Yankees in 1949, he won 3 and lost 0. Traded to the Browns, he had a 1-3 record in 1950.
After playing 6 years for the Redlegs, Herm switched to a Phillie uniform in mid-season last year. His unusual pitching talents helped give Philadelphia added depth in their mound staff, and he figures to play a big part in their '55 plans. Herm came to the Majors after winning 17 games at Columbia in '46. With Cincy, he scored 11 Victories in '48 and again in '49.
