Darrel split the Reds' shortstop duties in 1969 with Woody Woodward. A four-sport star in high school, he turned down 35 football scholarships to sign with Cincy. In 1968 Darrel topped Asheville in Games Played. Home Runs and Total Bases and was second in RBI's. Acquired via the draft. he led Northern League shortstops in Double Plays in 1966. Excellent glove man.
The fireballing righthander was obtained from the Milwaukee Braves in August 1964. Used mainly in relief previously, the New York Mets plan to make Dennis a starting pitcher this season.
Randy pitched impressively for Giants in 1972 after being brought up from Phoenix in June. He was 11-3 in high school ball in 1966, hurled a no-hitter and helped pitch his team to the league championship. Randy was named to All-League & All-Long Beach first teams & was Player of the Year.
