For many years Vern (Junior) Stephens has been one of the American League's most feared sluggers. In both 1949 and 1950 he tied for the RBI title with 159 and 144, respectively. Proof of his fielding was shown in 1947-8-9 when he led the league's shortstops in assists. In his major league career, Vern has socked 236 homers and chased 1121 runners home.
One of the top pitchers in the game today, Bob fired 5 shutouts in 1962. During his career, the righty has won two All-Star games for the N.L. Bob had the lowest E.R.A. in the National League in 1955.
