"Morry" Arnovich had a great season with the Phillies last year. After battling for the batting crown most of the season, he wound up with an average of .324, showing 67 runs-batted-in, 68 runs scored and 159 hits. Arnovich is a graduate of Superior State Teachers College and jumped right into professional baseball from college in 1933. The Phillies acquired him from Hazleton in 1936. "Morry's" lifetime major league mark is just under .300. He is not a flashy fielder but is steady.
Max's greatest ability might just be his utility. A versatile defender with plus speed and exceptional Baseball instincts, Schuemann can easily be plugged into any number of spots on the field and in the lineup with no drop-off. He led Oakland's farm system in runs and walks and ranked second in OBP while splitting time between the top two levels in 2023.
Jack Hitatt: Jack began his career in 1961 and hit .325 at Statesville. In 40 games as a Giant last year, the backstop batted a solid .284. Dick Estelle: Dick has already pitched two no-hitters in the minors. The 6 ft. 2 inch righthander had his best year in 1962 when he won 14 games.
