One of the outstanding 1949 rookies. In 73 games for Chisox, hitting .318. Benched by shoulder injury toward end of season. Got first chance in majors as Indian, but released to Hollywood. Sox purchased Gus after 1947 season, but left him with Hollywood in 1948, when he led the Pacific Coast League in hits, total bases, runs batted in.
Great things were predicted for Joe in 1950. But he suf- fered a bad shoulder injury early in the season. An operation kept him out of the lineup most of the year. He was in a total of 34 games and batted .318. Had 28 hits. Drove in 20 runs. Caught 81 games for the Cards in 1949. Began in organized ball with Springfield. Has also played for Columbus. Spent 3 seasons in the service.
After three shots with the Indians, Tommy came up to the Sox late in 1965. The outfielder slugged 20 home runs at Portland. The young second baseman batted .301 for Clinton in 1961, his second year in pro ball. In the Sally League, Marv hit .337.
