Youthful veteran who scored 22 wins in 1947 with brilliant 2.47 earned-run average, hurling six shutouts and fanning 193 batters to lead league. Sore arm stopped him most of last season finally ending up seven-and-nine record. Still managed to strike-out 114 opponents - 6th best in league. First full year up - 1946 - he won only four games and dropped 13 - but hurled at the rate of 2.46 earned runs per game.



In general, Piedmont and Sweet Caporal card backs are the easiest to find in the 1909 T206 Set.



The Giants hope that Bob will duplicate his great hitting of 1954 this season. Last year he won practically every honor in the Southern Association, leading the League in Home Runs, Hitting, R.B.I.'s, Hits and Runs. A powerful slugger, Bob is the 7th player in history to reach the 60 mark in Homers. He was originally signed by the Dodgers, but the Giants drafted him in '47.
