"There aren't many ball players who break into the Big League by making a home run in their first game, but that is what Dolph Camilli did last fall; not only that, but this particular hit won the game for the Cubs. Camilli was secured by the Cubs from the Sacramento Club of the Pacific Coast League last fall, and during the present season he was traded to the Phillies. He is 26 years-old, 5 feet, 104 inches tall, and weighs about 190 pounds. He batted .293 for Sacramento last year in 159 games. He is a first baseman, bats and throws left-handed."
7 Carlos enjoyed his first full season as a starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs in 2003. At the tender age of 22, the burly native of Venezuela topped the Cubs with 214 innings pitched. He surrendered only 9 home runs while playing in often-windy Wrigley Field. His earned run average of 3.11 was the seventh-best in the National League.
