Charley Gehringer of the Detroit Tigers is one of those rare infielders who couples great skill in the field with hard hitting at the plate. Usually clever infielders are shy on batting ability, because as young- sters they gave most of their time to fielding and very little to batting. Remember, boys, a hard hitter can always find a place on any team, even though he may be an awkward and sloppy fielder.
