His playing days - which were mostly with the Reds - began with Moline of the Three-I League in 1919 and wound up with the Giants in 1933. He managed at Cincinnati from July 1934 to the end of the 1937 campaign. Coached Brooklyn, 1939-42, and 1944-46. Coached Yanks, 1947-48. Managed Oakland, Pacific Coast League, 1950.



Bob returns to the Senators after 2 impressive years of pitching in the Army. Before entering Service, he was up briefly with Washington in '50 and '51, losing his only decision each season. Bob won his first Major League trial after a 10-10 season with a 3.95 ERA and 114 Strikeouts at Chattanooga in '50. He won 4 and lost 5 at Kansas City in '51.
