Gary was quickly picked up by the Expos during the expansion draft last winter. This thin 24 year old closed the 1968 campaign like a house afire as his batting average soared. In fact, not one regular on the Phils had a higher mark than Gary's. Gary is given the best chance of winning the Expos' shortstop job for 1969.



The veteran relief pitcher began his career at Owensboro in 1950. Working his way up to the majors, Don won fame in 1957 when he blanked the New York Yankees in 3 relief appearances in the World Series.



"Now Pitching for Brooklyn... Jim Hughes." Last season that announcement was familiar to fans because Jim came to the rescue whenever the Brooks were in "hot water." The busiest hurler on the staff, he appeared in more games than any other N.L. pitcher, and posted the top Dodger E.R.A. A fireman's son, he finds putting out the flames on the diamond is right up his alley.
