"Moose" began his professional baseball career with the Fairmont Club in 1927. He entered the majors in 1934 with the Boston Red Sox and is now with the Cleveland Indians.



Harry Heilmann was one of baseball's great right-handed hitters. He came up with Detroit in 1914 and playing both the outfield and first base, proved himself a standout at the bat. His lifetime major league record is .342, one of the highest, and he won the American league batting title four times - in 1921-23-25 and '27. His greatest season was 1923, when he batted .403. Heilmann collected a total of 2660, including 183 home runs. He was with Detroit until 1929, and finished his career with Cincinnati, for whom he played from 1930. through '32. Harry broadcasts baseball and other sports in Detroit today.



My Advice To Youngsters by Gil McDougald: My advice to youngsters is to get out to your playgrounds as often as possible and learn how to hit the ball as well as to catch ground balls and fly balls. And even if you never reach the major leagues, playing baseball will build a strong body, teach you sportsmanship and fair play, both of which build good citizens.
