Canseco didn't take too kindly to getting hit by a pitch on his 24th birthday (July 2, 1988), so he took it out on Toronto with a powerhouse performance the next day. Teeing off in the first, sixth and 12th innings, the slugger followed Jimmie Foxx (1932) as the franchise's second player with three homers, six RBI and a walk in a game.
When the Pirates drafted "Catfish" from Oakland at the end of the '50 season, it was his 3rd try in the Majors. His career started in '39 with Henderson. George played for the Red Sox from '43 through '46, the Indians in '47, and the White Sox in '49. He hit .315 and was voted the Pacific Coast League's Most Valuable Player at Oakland in '50. George is equally handy at playing First Base and the Outfield.
Don set two records in 1968 when he pitched 6 straight shutouts and hurled 58% consecutive scoreless innings.
