Fine fielder and timely hitter. Broke into the big league with Pittsburgh in 1924 and has been ranked with the top notchers ever since. Suffered an injury at a gymnasium in the fall of 1928 which kept him out of the game during the greater part of the next year. Came back in 1980 to play 135 games and bat .321, and ranked with the leaders in fielding his position as shortstop. Last year in 127 games batted .274. Hails from Harrisville, Missouri, is 81 years old, 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 170 lbs. Bats and throws right handed. Traded to Brooklyn, December, 1928.



In 1941 with Cedar Rapids of Three-1 League, Hank topped circuit in batting, base hits, total bases, home runs, and runs batted in and tied for runs scored. Finished season with Cleveland and spent most of 1942 with Baltimore, again finishing year with Indians. With them ever since excepting 2 years in service. Hit .301 in 1946 and led AL in triples with 16.



The 1916 Sporting News M101-4 and M-101-5 sets were released only a few years after the famed tobacco card sets produced by the American Tobacco Company.
