Harvey tied for the most hits in the American League in 1954 with 201. He has had two full seasons in the majors, and has had over 200 hits in each one. In 1954 Harvey got in 155 games and his batting average of .306 was the fifth best in the league. His hits were good for a total of 256 bases, and included 28 doubles, 6 triples and 5 homers. He batted in 48 runs and scored 81. He's a good man in the field, too. 1952 was his first year in organized ball, and he began with Davenport of the Three-l League. Joined the Tigers at the end of the season. Was named Rookie of the Year in 1953.
Monte posted his best Batting Average last season as he led the Giants in Slugging (.541) and placed 2nd in Team RBI's. With Jersey City in '49, Monte hit .373 and .510 in 18 games in '50 before joining the Giants. In '51 he topped the N.L. in RBI's (112), batted .312 and collected 11 hits in the World Series.
