Ruben hurled two of the best games in his career last season. In July, he fashioned a classy three hitter against the Cards and in August pitched a nifty two hit victory over Cincinnati. A crafty workman, Ruben loves warm weather best and finds the hotter the day, the "hotter" his fast ball and curve become. Before coming to the Giants, he posted an impressive Minor League record of 34-13.
As noted on his 2006 Topps Allen & Ginter card, Nady, Xavier was acquired by the Mets via a trade with the Padres on November 18, 2005. The Salinas, California resident has garnered 204 hits in his career to date, 25 of which were circuit clouts.
Russell W. Ford, pitcher of the Buffalo Federal League team, was born in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, April 25, 1883. He broke into professional baseball in 1905 with the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, team. After two seasons with that team he joined Atlanta in 1907. He was purchased by the New York Americans in 1909, but was farmed out to Jersey City for that season. He rejoined the Yankees in 1910. Ford signed with the Federal League early in 1914.
