Name that player!

THE BEST HITTER I'VE EVER SEEN by Bobby Thomson. That would be Ted Williams. To start with, Ted has all the physical qualifications to be a great hitter. He's got a strong body, great hands, wrists and arms, plus a great desire to hit the ball once he's in the batter's box. He's also got great eyes and a fine sense of timing. Also helping him is the fact that he has a true knowledge of all the opposing pitchers and a fierce determination.

Batting - Best major league batters like Walter Berger of the Boston Braves stand upright, with little or no crouch, and weight slightly on the foot nearest the catcher. The rear foot is the anchor foot, from which the forward thrust must come. The front foot is the stepping foot, used to stride toward outside pitches or back from inside ones so that the batter may meet the ball with a full, free swing. Never cramp the arms close to the body when swinging. The arms should be fully extended when the bat meets the ball.

Addison Foster Brennan, pitcher of the Chicago Federal League team, was born in Laharpe, Kan., July 18, 1887. His professional career began in 1907, when he secured a position with the Springfield, Mo., Club. He was drafted by the Kansas City American Association Club in 1908, but was sent to Wichita the same season. He joined the Philadelphia Nationals in 1910, and remained with that club until the fall of 1913, when he signed with the Chicago Federals.
