Steve Sundra, once the property of Cleveland, has been a big help to the New York Yankees. He joined them permanently in 1938, after two seasons with Newark, and has captured 17 while losing only 5 in the last two years. He won 11 and lost only 1 last year and had an earned run average of only 2.75. Sundra appeared in 24 games for the World champions last year, allowing only 110 hits and forty-three runs in 121 innings.
Rejoining his old team after a 3 year absence, Bob will be on the Cub coaching lines in '54. Starting with Greenwood in '35, he hit .315 at Albany in '36 and .330 for Washington (Penn State League) leading the loop with 96 RBI's. He came to the Cubs in '41 and batted .300 in '48. In '51 Bob decided to devote full time to coaching.
Batters used to be afraid to see him go in the pitcher's box, because he was so wild. In his first six years in the game he hit 57 men with pitched balls. He has control now and ranks with the top-notchers. Last year he was sick most of the year, but won two and lost two for the Yankees. In 1931 he won 13 games and lost eight. Henry Johnson is 27, five feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He is right-handed. He hails from Bradenton, Fla.
