To Boston fans, "Bobby" Doerr is the greatest second baseman in the American League today. Of course, with such stars as "Flash" Gordon and "Charley" Gehringer around, that is open to debate, but the records show that if Doerr is not the best, he is at least right up with 'the leaders. Last year, in his second full season with the Red Sox, "Bobby" batted a nifty .318, drove in 78 runs. scored 75, and fielded a brilliant .976. He showed improvement in every department of game, and there's no telling how far this youngster, who has only six seasons of professional ball behind him, will go in baseball. That he'll go far is a certainty.
