Tommy made the Big Leagues with the Cards in '49 after playing 5 years of minor league ball and spending 3 years in the Service. Playing third and second base in his rookie year he hit .267 in 87 games and came back in 1950 to bat .285 in 115 games. His best year was 1946 at Fresno where he hit 22 homers, batted .338 and stole 64 bases to earn the nickname "Rabbit". Bothered by an ailing shoulder, he saw limited action in 1951.
Jim started the 1952 season in the uniform of the St. Louis Browns, then, after playing in 93 games for the Brownies, was traded to the Detroit Tigers. Jim began in organized ball in 1942 with Green Bay. Lockport of the Pony League had his services the next season, then came two years in service. First came to the majors briefly in 1948 with the White Sox. Also played for the Yankees.
He's been in organized baseball since 1935 and in majors since 1940. Started in majors with Red Sox in '40, was traded to Washington Senators for 1942 season and stayed with them until end of 1947 season when he was traded back to Bosox. He tied a major league record June 1, 1944, when he had six hits in six times at bat. He led AL in triples, 1942; assists, 1944; and putouts, 1946.
