One of the Giant's "Big Three" mound stars. Jim was in 34 games for the Polo Grounders in 1951. Won 17 games while losing 9. He beat the Dodgers 3 times late in the season. These victories included a 3-1 triumph in the first game of playoff. Came to Giants from Cards, 1950.
Bucky Walters started his baseball career in 1929 as an infielder, with the High Point Club of the Piedmont League. In 1931 and 1932 he played with the Boston Bees as an infielder, and in 1934 with the Boston Red Sox in the same capacity. Bucky came to the Phillies in 1934, and upon the advice of Jimmy Wilson, their manager, tried his luck as a pitcher and was a big success from the very start. Pitched for the Phillies until the middle of the 1938 season when he was traded to Cincinnati for Virgil Davis, Albert Hollingsworth, and a reported $55,000. During his 5 years of pitching, Bucky has pitched a total of 142 games, winning 49 and losing 59, but striking out 293 batters.
Invited to Chicago's spring training camp in 2023, Crow-Armstrong arrived with a unique distinction. The big leagues' official website tabbed the fleet-footed prospect as the best defender in the minor leagues. Touted for his range and instincts, he was awarded a perfect grade on the 20-80 scale.
