The Pirates brought Jerry up for the '54 season after a tremendous showing in the Minors. He started with Greenville in '50 and hit .329, driving in 75 Runs with 33 Stolen Bases. After 2 years in Service, he returned to Norfolk where he led the League in Batting (.330), R.B.I.'s (133) as well as Hits, Doubles and Triples. The Pirates hope Jerry can do the same for them.
Taylor started the 2022 season red hot and finished it the same way. In September/ October, he slashed .345/.397/.575 with 18 runs batted in and 19 runs scored in 31 games. That followed a first half where he recorded an .872 on-base plus slugging percentage and was one of the top table setters in Baseball.
Recalled from Shreveport in midseason last year, Bill saw plenty of action as a Cub relief pitcher. He began with Eau Claire in '49 as a starter and finished the season at Clarksdale winning 7 games. With Shreveport in '52 he hurled in 40 games and showed he had a strong enough arm for bull pen chores. Last season he posted a 1.25 ERA in 22 games before joining the Cubs.
