After a season in the Minors, Joe will be a welcome addition to the Dodger team this year. Experts believe he can regain the "hypnotic spell" he cast over National League hitters when he was voted Rookie-of-the-Year in 1952. That year he posted a 15 and 4 record and was the main reason for the Dodgers' Pennant success. Joe won the 1st game in the 1952 World Series.
In 1966, Willie recorded his 13th straight season with at least 70 extra-base hits. No other player has more than 12 such seasons- consecutive or otherwise. Mays also is the lone hitter to post both a 50-homer season (1955, 1965) and a 20-triple year (1957).
During his long baseball career Floyd has played second, third and short and also appeared in the outfield. In 1949 he tied an American League record by participating in three double plays at third base. First came to majors with St. Louis Browns at beginning of 1943 season. Sold to White Sox in December 1944, he remained with them until traded to Washington, then to Boston Red Sox.
