Coffee Talk Name that player!
"Walt" Judnich, Yankee farm castoff, made the grade last year - his first Major League season - with the St. Louis Browns. Not only was he a capable defensive outfielder, fielding a nifty .989 with only four errors, but he batted .303, drove in 89 runs, scored 97 himself, and hit 24 home runs. Judnich moved his way up in the Yankee chain, playing with Newark in 1939, and should become one of the real power hitters in the American League.
Bob thrived on Major League pitching last season as he enjoyed the best year of his baseball career. He placed third in N.L. Batting, running just behind his Pittsburgh teammate Bill Virdon. These two flychasers teamed up to give the Pirates one of the best hitting outfields in the League. Bob also demonstrated his timely hitting by posting a .300 Average in 10 pinch hit appearances.
In 1966, Frank earned a shot at the majors after he compiled a .308 batting average and led his Phoenix club with 77 runs batted in. That year he was selected as a PCL All-Star.
