In 1966, Doug was the All-Star third baseman in the Texas League. He was sent up to Oklahoma City where he continued his fine play and earned a promotion to the majors. Doug completed the 1967 campaign with a bang, hitting .333 in 47 games with Houston. In addition to his duties at the hot corner, Doug can also play first base.
Batted .276 for 95 games in 1951. His 60 hits were good for a total of 101 bases. They included 6 home runs, 5 triples, 13 doubles. Eddie drove in 40 runs. Began in 1937 with San Diego. Hit majors in 1941. Played with Pirates, Yanks and Senators before coming to White Sox.
Whitey Moore contributed thirteen victories to the Cincinnati pennant winners last year. It was his best season with the Reds and gave promise for even better ones. Moore is one of the fastest pitchers in the National League but has been hampered by lack of control which he should get with more experience. This is only his third full season with the Reds. Bill McKechnie, who has been guiding the young pitcher slowly, put him in as a relief hurler in the World Series games last year, and Moore held the Yankees runless and hitless for three innings.
